What's on in the Eastern Cape

Spring is here and thankfully so has some much needed rain, but don’t let the rain keep you from enjoying the local events taking place this weekend in the Eastern Cape. There is something for everyone, so don’t sit at home doing nothing, go out and have some fun!

PORT ELIZABETH

Friday 5 October

  • Kega Group and Gareth James bring you Moon Shadow – A Tribute to Cat Stevens from 8pm at the Music Kitchen. When you hear the music of Cat Stevens, you get a feeling of nostalgia. This tribute is designed to make you feel exactly that. A show that will feature the hits, namely: “Wild World”, “Father & Son”, “Moon Shadow” and many more.   • The PE EXpress First Choice Kids & Baby Expo will be taking place this weekend from Friday till Sunday at the Boardwalk. The Expo is aimed at expectant parents and families with children aged 0 to 12 years…from Tums to Tots to Tweens!  For more information check out their Facebook page.

Saturday 6 October

  • Join the PE Hobie Beach parkrun, which takes place every Saturday at 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a fun run along the beach.
  • Join the Bike & Brew from 9am every Saturday for an easy pedal through the Baakens Valley from their Valley Store. Free, secure parking will be available and you can join us for a fresh brew from Groundfloor Cafe afterwards. Pace to suit every rider.   • Springboks will face the Wallabies at The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on the 29 September 2018 for the Rugby Championship. Tickets are available at the Nelson Mandela Bay ticketing office and through Computicket online including any Shoprite or Checkers store.   • After the much anticipated release of her latest album L.O.V.E. Zonke Dikana will return to PE for two amazing show nights. She will be performing from 7:30pm at the Boardwalk Hotel. For more information check out their Facebook page.
  • Miss Drag South Africa, is a national pageant where beautiful and intelligent hopefuls from Mzanzi vie for this prestige title. The black tie event will take place on Saturday, 29th September 2018 at The Opera House. Sunday 7 October

  • The Re-Seconds Market will be taking place from 9am till 2pm at Walmer Town Hall. This Market aims to create awareness around going green, being environmentally friendly and living in a sustainable manner as well as supporting all small and local businesses because Local is always Lekker. GRAHAMSTOWN

Saturday 6 October

  • The Grahamstown Morning Market takes place every Saturday morning at the Old Gaol in Somerset Street. There are various stalls, including some who sell arts and crafts, plants, home-made offerings and much more!
  • The Grahamstown Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at the Makana Botanical Gardens from 8am. This is a 5km run, and it is you against the clock. Register with them today and enjoy a morning in the fresh air.

JEFFREY’S BAY

Friday 5 October

  • The Chicken Run Golf Day takes place every Friday from 7am to 3pm. You pay for and play nine holes, and then get nine free. There are Rotisserie chicken vouchers from Woolworths up for grabs.

Saturday 6 October

  • The JBay Cycle Club – Social Rides, is a great way for you to get into the fresh air. This is a permanent event which takes place every Saturday morning at 6am. It’s also the perfect opportunity to help with your fitness levels. Join them at the corner of Poplar and Da Gama Way in Jeffrey’s Bay.
  • The Kouga Lions Club Flea Market is a weekly event that takes place at the Saverite parking grounds, St Francis Rd. There are some great fresh produce to buy and so much more. Go and enjoy a lovely morning.
